Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Kevin Ekart (“we”, “us”) for the Snippet Keeper app, its website and its online service (together, “Snippet Keeper”). By downloading, activating or using Snippet Keeper, or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you use it on behalf of an organization, you agree on its behalf and confirm you’re allowed to. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
1. Ways to use Snippet Keeper
License (one-time purchase)
- A license lets one person use Snippet Keeper on up to 3 Macs they use, for personal or work purposes, without an account. You can move it between Macs by deactivating one first.
- It includes one year of updates from the date of purchase. You may keep using any version released within your update period indefinitely. Versions released after it ends require a renewal.
- A renewal adds one year of updates: to the end of your current period if you renew before it ends, or from the date of renewal otherwise. Renewals are optional and never automatic.
- The app checks your license online when you activate it and about once a day. It keeps working for 30 days without a successful check, after which it asks you to connect. Your snippets can always be exported.
- Licensed copies store snippets only on your Mac and don’t include syncing or sharing.
Subscriptions
- Single-user subscriptions are for one person and include syncing their snippets across their Macs.
- Company subscriptions cover an organization’s members: each pack of 10 seats covers up to 10 people (members and pending invitations). Each seat also covers that person’s own Personal space while they’re a member. Owners and admins can add packs of 10 seats; added seats are charged immediately for the rest of the current billing period and then renew with the subscription.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year, depending on the plan you choose, until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the customer portal (Manage billing in the app); access continues until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
Free trials
- New accounts get a 14-day free trial, and each person may start one 14-day trial for a company they create. No payment details are needed to start one.
- When a trial ends, or a subscription ends or can’t be renewed, the affected snippets become read-only: you can still view, search, copy and export them, but not change them, until a subscription is active again. We don’t delete your content because a trial or subscription ended; see section 7 for account deletion.
2. Payments, taxes and refunds
Purchases are sold and processed by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record, under its own terms. Prices are shown at checkout and include or add applicable taxes as required where you live. We may change prices for future purchases and renewals; for active subscriptions, we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice before a price change takes effect, and you can cancel before then.
Refunds: If you’re not happy with a license or renewal, email us within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time but aren’t refunded for partial periods, except where required by law. If a purchase is refunded, we may deactivate the license or remove the year of updates a refunded renewal added.
3. Your account and organizations
- Keep your sign-in details secure. You’re responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live) to create an account.
- Organizations are controlled by their owners and admins, who decide who can join, what roles people have, and who can see restricted apps. Owners can delete an organization and its content.
- Content you add to an organization is shared with it and stays with the organization if you leave or are removed. If you add content on behalf of an employer or client, it may belong to them.
4. Your content
You keep all rights to the snippets and other content you create. You give us permission to store, copy, display and transmit it only as needed to run Snippet Keeper for you and the people you share it with (for example, to sync it, show it to your organization, keep its history and back it up).
You’re responsible for your content and for having the right to store and share it. Snippet Keeper isn’t designed to be a password manager: don’t store passwords, API keys or other secrets in snippets, and keep your own exports as backups of anything important.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Snippet Keeper for anything illegal, or to store or share content you don’t have the right to;
- share, resell or publish license keys, or use one license on more Macs or by more people than it allows;
- get around license checks, seat limits, trials or other limits, or access data or accounts that aren’t yours;
- interfere with, overload, or try to break the security of the service;
- copy, modify or redistribute the app, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows you to.
6. Updates and changes to the service
We may update Snippet Keeper, including automatically, and may add, change or remove features. We’ll try to give reasonable notice before removing significant paid features. Licensed copies keep working with the features of the versions you’re entitled to.
7. Ending your use
- You can stop using Snippet Keeper at any time, and delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account). Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a subscription; cancel it in the customer portal first.
- We may suspend or end access for serious or repeated breaches of these terms, fraud, or non-payment, and will give notice where reasonable. Where possible, we’ll let you export your content first.
- If we ever shut down the online service, we’ll give account holders at least 60 days’ notice so they can export their snippets. Licensed copies don’t depend on our servers beyond license checks; if we shut down, we’ll release an update that removes them.
8. Disclaimers
Snippet Keeper is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that content will never be lost. Commands and other content you copy are run at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to Snippet Keeper is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you; nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.
10. Indemnity
If you use Snippet Keeper for business, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims by others arising from your content or your breach of these terms.
11. General
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, United States, and disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts in Clark County, Indiana, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring claims where you live.
- We may update these terms. We’ll change the date above, and for significant changes notify account holders by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Snippet Keeper after that means you accept them.
- If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing something isn’t a waiver. You can’t transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a sale of the business.
- These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Snippet Keeper.
